That's not an Intel thing, it's a Microsoft thing. It's conspicuous to the most casual observer that most viruses come in through IE or a mail app on a Windows machine and violate the address book in Outlook/Express - use Eudora for mail on Windows - and are always written in Visual Basic or Visual C/C++ (MS development tools). And, as soon as MS releases a Security Update, somebody's already found a backdoor and they need to release another. >From what I've read OS X is quite secure (although as we all know there's a key for every lock). Better yet, OS 9! Who in their right mind would write a virus for OS 9? Viva la G-list! :) I believe MS leaves backdoors intentionally. First and foremost I don't trust Bill Gates - he makes too much per hour. Does any Mac user trust BG? MS wants to spy on your machine cause they want to know how you live and shop and they also want to know if you're running a pirated version of Word or Excel (Duh! - like since forever!). It's all about revenue. Greater than that, and I'm a skeptic - though not paranoid - who believes that long ago the federal government insisted that Intel, MS and the rest of the computer industry leave hardware and software backdoors for law enforcement, so-called National Security and any other invasive reasons deemed relevant at the moment by any federal agency or court, or other Authority, that don't make sense and probably violate constitutionally. I don't lose sleep over it but I do believe it. And, after 9/11, I believe the Office of Homeland Insecurity had a say in the whole thing. Not wanting to get political, but ever notice how how various industries (including computer companies) make political decisions based on trivial problems such as supply and profitability? Like Apple? Can you believe they're jumping ship to Intel? I can't. There's something wrong with that picture but it probably won't matter in the long run.
