I am a neophyte so the questions asked may seem simple, but complicated

I stick with OS 9 due to my age. I'm 74 and think OS X might be beyond
my learning curve. Difficult to teach old dog new tricks.

So if you decide to install "OSX" you may become very unsatisfied,
which would be very unfortunate as "OSX" 10.3 is a great operating
system. I use it on my G4 and will in install 10.4 very soon.

Richard; I had a G3 266 until my recent upgrade to a B&W G3 then to a G4
Sawtooth. Anyway, my G3/266 had 512 mb of ram and the stock hard drive
in it and I ran OS X.2.6 on it without a hitch. I never had to use
Xpostfacto as some have.I believe that with OS X and some of the older
hardware the mileage as to what works and what doesn't varies from
machine to machine. I do know that I liked OS X on the Beige G3 it ran
really smooth. I moved on because I wanted to get peripherals to work
and didn't want to go through the hassles of trying this on the Beige.
Good Luck Brad
P.S. You may not be able to teach an old dog new tricks but you can
certainly help him to use the skills he already has. Good Luck 60 and
counting.
Brad
