Hi there
As far as i can remember without going to the opposite side of town to
look. it is setup for direct connect.
the Linksys is a four port router, bog standard, not wireless. The Asus
access point was brought in to give our network WAP ability. The Asus
connects to the Linksys through one of it's ethernet ports.
Cheers
James

Well now i seem to have my own little problem and i'm hoping someone
out there can help me out.
My dad just got an airport card for his Imac DV 400. Up until now he's
been connecting the mac to the internet via ethernet cable, that
connects into our Linksys router and then into the broadband cable
modem.
We recently bought an Asus wireless access point, and connected it to
the Linksys. Providing our PC laptops with wireless connection. The
only problem is that the Imac that is now wireless, does not detect
the access point like the Laptops do.
To make things clear, this is a PC populated network. We've been
connecting the Imac (running OSX 10.3) via DHCP using an RJ45 cable.
But we hope this would be a temporary measure, as my dad doesn't wish
to have a cable running through his bedroom.
If anyone can help, i'd be really grateful

James, most WAP's have different modes they can operate in that let it
connect to a hub or bridge mode or connected directly to the computer.
From your description, sound like the Linksys router is setup properly
as the laptops can all communicate with it, but sounds to me like your
WAP is not configured properly. I have a D-Link router with two WAP's
which connect to it. One upstairs I have connected to a hub and my
iMac and Quadra are connected to the hub. Both work fine and
communicate with the rest of the network. The other WAP is connected
to a Cantenna, which links a friend on the other side of my block with
my network and cable modem. I can't remember for sure, but I think it
is setup in a bridge mode. I'm sure you want to set yours to connect
directly to a computer. HTH
Just a message from Doug...
