Aye, my apologies. The B/W doesn't read 512mb as 512mb as the others have stated. Was my mistake, for some reason i was thinking of the B/W maximum ram ability, not what sticks you had to use to get you there LOL

The data corruption was something i encountered on first getting my B/W. I wanted to install another larger drive. But after reading as length about it. Decided to ditch the 10gb and install a 40gb. So far it has served me well. But i would never install a second drive on the primary IDE bus. After the things i've heard. It's wiser to buy a faster PCI 133 ATA card and get a nice speedy ATA 133 drive installed.

I have a Mac Edition PCI Radeon 32MB video card and it's just great! Much better then the ATI Rage i had.

I hope you get your B/W fixed, they are a fun machine..Look great and for the age, run really well in OSX.

I have a AMD 64Bit XP3000 system for gaming. I used to use it for web design, but the mac took over. Much easier to use. All Hail in the presence of Mac!

I can confirm this. My friend owns a B&W 400 rev 1 with two 512 meg RAM chips installed. The chips worked fine, EXCEPT that only 256 of the 512 megs was recognized.

Hi there

A 512mb stick will work in a B/W as far as i know.
As for data corruption, this only ever rears it's ugly head when installing more them one HDD on the internal IDE BUS, as far as i am aware!

James

A 512MB stick "might" work, but the B/W will only access half that memory, which is its designed max. Was the machine working better before you added it? That would be the first item I'd test by removing to trouble shoot.

It doesn't matter that the other ram sticks are different sizes, but there could be other issues with them
