Frankly Peter, I don't see it. the software power isn't there. When
I found
Photoshop on the Mac, I realized that it was possible to produce a
program so
well designed and tested and powerful, unlike most of the stuff made
for Amiga.
There was good imaginative programming, but the user base was too
small to
perfect most of it and make a profit. So much of the software was
full of
holes.
By success I was thinking of being a serious competitor, merely getting
a new Amiga out the door to consumers. It's very close - a 50/50
chance at this point. Doubt they'd sell more than 5000, mostly for
nostalgic Amigans. Still, I'd like to see it happen. Doubt I'll get
one.
I migrated to the Mac from Amiga via Fusion, a perfect Mac emulator.
There
wasn't a good enough audio program on Amiga so I bought a cheap
SuperMac on Ebay
to use almost as an audio peripheral to the Amiga. It was a smooth
way to
transition.
I used ShapeShifter to do my taxes on MacIntax for 3 years. It was
really too slow and occasionally glitchy to be useful though. It took
nearly 4 hours to print the return one April 15th. I was sweating it!

YAM is right. There is a shareware CD burning program for Amiga too,
that is
still supported, I think. I even burned audio cds and it was great
for backup.
A couple of CDs were enough to preserve years of Amiga production.
Time marches on, eh?
For a while, I actually was able to mount Mac disks from the SuperMac
on the
Amiga through Appletalk and Fusion...I have a Fusion zorro board that
has
serial ports. Slow but useful.
Two A3000s had a HDD which read Mac discs fine using CrossMAC, before
they died. Handy for Shapeshifter.
Well, this is a Mac list so we should stop with this Amiga talk or go
on off
list.
I'm stopping now. 8^)
