Change your hub from USB to Ethernet and everything should work just fine.

What spectacularly poor advice.

Your instructions would have him end up with two computers connected to an ethernet hub and a printer connected to nothing, since the G85 only comes with a usb port.

Well for my spectacularly poor advice, you can get a ethernet hub (if you don't already have one) on eBay for $0.01 and you can also get an usb to ethernet converter for $0.01

Check out what it will cost you for an USB Switch.

I'm sorry for suggesting a very cheap why, but very spectacularly poor way to accomplish your needs.

Actually you'll need a USB-ethernet *print server*, since the printer itself doesn't know what to do with an ethernet connection, but fleabay lists a number currently at auction for $0.99 (no buy it now prices and none are near the end time, so no real idea of the price) with an $11.95 S&H charge attached.

Similarly, even if you DO get the ethernet hub for a penny, you're still paying shipping of a few bucks at least.

This does put it in the range of a usb switch which is a lot simpler and does what the original poster asked.

The simplest and cheapest solution is to use printer sharing, which, if one of the Macs is running 10.3 will work with both macs and PC's. That's free.
