Yeah, it might. With that set, the 10.2.8 external HD doesn't wake up fast enough to be able to boot . Have to go back thru 9.1 & XPostfacto. (After using HDTools locate & mount the offending drive.

I listened, and there was no activity whatsoever. The Caps Lock key wasn't even triggering the indicator on the keyboard, which is a pretty good sign that the system is truly hung, from my past experiences. I reset it, set the startup disk to the primary (OS9) HD, and am currently running Disk First Aid from the OS X install CD. Might turning off the "Turn off HD whenever possible" item in the Energy Saver section possibly have any effect on the whole blanking problem?
