It no longer boots from my Mac OS 9.1 retail disc, just stops at the blinking folder or boots into Tiger. I've tried holding option at startup, but it doesn't show the CD-ROM. Tried holding C, no luck. Also tried Startup disc in Tiger, also no luck. My disc is 9.1 - perhaps the Digital Audio's need 9.2.1 or 9.2.2? It boots my 10.2, 10.3 and 10.4 discs fine. Also, the LED's on the SuperDrive don't work anymore after the update. It doesn't seem to recognize my blank CD-RW's (TDK). I know the discs work in other Macs.
Any ideas? --- end of quote --- That sounds like a failed upgrade. Have you tried it a second time? If that doesn't work, try using the upgrader from the Pioneer website. That ought to fix it. Be sure you use one specified for your drive, though I don't think the wrong one will work. The drive will still appear as a Superdrive to the computer. There are also some hack drivers around that are good. I have a 104 that will now burn 1x disks at 2x thanks to a hacked driver suggested by the OWC newsletter. Though the installer wouldn't work in Panther, had to boot to Jaguar to do it. These hacks can also eliminate the regional limitations of the drives. Search the web for the site or maybe someone remembers where it is. Good luck, Rich -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
