Tiger is not an upgrade, but a stand alone OS. It is $129 in the Apple
Store, but I've seen specials here and there for $99. You don't need
anything on the drive prior to installing Tiger, nothing at all.


Well darn it - that answers the question I just posed to the group in my reply - this is good news, I guess - but I don't know why then Tiger would not install from the DVD I have now (that came with my iBook) - unless it is some kind of special "iBook" version... is that even possible?

I can try again tomorrow and see what happens... I don't want to rush into anything and screw something up... :-)
