Most of my Mac's have real unimaginative names: Performa631, Genesis3, 8100, PTPro, etc. The NeXT's have names all relating to being "black" hardware: nextcube, nextslab, blackcube, cube030. My Sgi Octane is named gort after the robot in "The Day the Earth Stood Still" because after doing the LED light bar hack, in a darkened room it looks like Gort's single shining light behind his faceplate (I'm telling my age: I saw that movie at a drive-in when I was two and remember it vividly. The movie was produced in 1951). Most of the other Sgi boxes either have German male names or are named after fighter planes (another pair of stories). Our WinXP and 2K machines are names after Greek and Roman gods, the Sun workstations are named after stars (Vega, TauCeti, etc).

We are currently living in an apartment while our house is being built. I can't wait until we move and I can set up my full home network again.
