Do you PAY for yahoo mail? this is the crucial difference.

The pay accounts can be used with other mail applications, the free ones can only be used with a web browser.

Try hotPOP.com. It's free (at least it was when I signed up 2 years ago), there are no ads added to my sent mail, and my mail is downloaded the same way as my ISP account. And fewer than 10 spams so far! 8^) Of course, I only use it for one mailing list that my ISP was blocking. I wonder what's in it for hotPOP?
