Thanks to all of you who gave me suggestions on how to fix the
color of Adobe images and Internet images on my monitor. I took
it to my technician and he put it on one of his good monitors (he
uses a bad monitor for his repair bench) and it looked fine. So....

Update as of 8/7/05

I tried another monitor and all is well. I searched Sunday morning on the
Internet for "Hitachi CM715 Macintosh" and came up with a site that
details how to deal with Adobe color management. In the page
(http://www.gballard.net/nca.html) there was this section:

--------------------------
2) Here is a simple test to help evaluate if a bad monitor profile is
whacking out your Photoshop color:

--Monitors/Displays (control panel)> Color> highlight AppleRGB or
sRGB (don't run Calibrate), quit and reboot.

--A handful of users have confirmed problems with certain brands of
monitors, Hitachi CM715 for example, is incompatible with Mac OS 10.2 &
10.3. The Hitachi monitors, the users wrote, worked with generic
monitor profiles, like Apple RGB and sRGB, but as soon as they loaded a
calibrated custom profile, the Hitachi screen whacked out the color in
Photoshop in Panther and Jaguar. They wrote the same custom profiles
worked properly under Systems 9 and 10.1.
--------------------------

I have another monitor that I am using now. Just switched it around in
the house and I'm back in business. I'm not sure I want to fool around with
color profiles and switch back. Maybe in a few weeks.

Thanks to all who had suggestions. I had no inkling that a monitor could
be the culprit in this situation.
Live and learn.
