I know you said one of the chips that did work was from Kingston. You can find info on that chip on Kingston's web site. Click on the Products tab and you can search by memory type, part number, etc.

There is a chart here <http://www.chipmunk.nl/DRAM/ChipManufacturers.htm> that will help identify the manufacturer by the code on the chip and/or the logo. If the chipmunk info is out of date, you can probably move on to the manufacturer's web site after figuring out who made the chip.
