it involved connecting a 12volt line, (similar to using a QS chip) but
it would be better to know for sure with some details.

Correct. I have a dual 800 board from a Quicksilver running in my D.A.

When you try to fit the board from a Quicksilver, you notice that the D.A. only
has three posts for mounting screws while the Quicksilver had four. The unused
screw hole in the board gets connected to a 12 volt line from one of the drive
power cables, the yellow lead. That's all there is to it.

There's a website that describes this in detail but I can't find the url. Maybe
Len Gerstel can refer you to it, as he did me.

Folowing his directions I took a drive lead extension and trimmed all but the
yellow line. Capped the unused 3 wires and crimped a small loop connector to
the yellow. Used a small nut and bolt to connect it to the board. There is
plenty of clearance below.

It works fine. Only problem is that the L3 caches need software to run in os9
and Panther. I can't find anything that will get them running in Tiger.

Hope this helps.

Rich
