Hi Ken,
I am using Verizon DSL with OS 10.2.8 and Apple Mail.
What are you using as your username? I found I needed to use the
cryptic name that was given to me by Verizon when I had my service
installed. It should be just a nonsense string of alphanumeric
characters like "ghd79wes" or something. Don't use your email address
username (kadaggett).
Beyond that, make ABSOLUTELY SURE you are entering your password
correctly. What exactly is Mail telling you when you attempt to access
your mail?
Also, remember that the outgoing mail server and incoming mail server
are different. ("incoming.verizon.net" and "outgoing.verizon.net")
I don't remember having any problems setting this up. I, too, moved
to 10.2.8 from an earlier OS. It seems to me it should be as easy as
just inputting your account information. I really can't imagine what
else could be going wrong, unless you are somehow entering something
incorrectly.
