This is utter BS. I know of NO CPU upgrade (of a
supported system)
that's incompatible with OS X.
It is just Apple CYAing so that if you do have a problem, they can just
say "Processor upgrade cards are not supported.." and end the call, an
easy out.
Also, if the card needs software to support or setup the backside
cache, Apple can say that it is the processor manufacturers
responsibility to provide the software, not theirs.
So basically, if a processor upgrade card works without any additional
software, Bruce, and most everybody else on this list agree, says that
it will run with no problem as long as the rest of the system meets the
specs (it will not install without external help on a beige G3, with or
without an upgrade, but will install fine on a Blue and White G3)
