Here's the contestants so far:

Mac ATI Radeon 7000 VGA out only
Apple OEM Twin Turbo 128 3D PCI 8MB iXMicro Video Card
ATI Rage Pro 128 video card, 16MB MAC OEM, NR Apple
APPLE ATI RAGE 128 PCI 16MB VIDEO CARD MAC G3 / G4

Snip

A Mac 7000 with just an VGA port is a flashed to PC card(All factory Mac 7000 cards have vga, DVI and S-video out . Not a bad thing if the price is right and it works. So I'd likely go by price and ATI will be better for long term use.

Not all VGA only are flashed cards, but the majority are. A while back I sold on the swap list a large quantity of pci Radeon 7000 pulls from xServes that were ATI original cards that had VGA only.

That being said, I have used and sold a significant number of flashed Radeons in various beiges in 9.2 and 10.2 with no problems. I also used the pci extreme hack to enable all the Quartz extreme eye candy in 10.2 using the Radeon.

HTH,
Len
