I don't think that I understand the "Classic" that runs on some OS X machines. Is it OS 9 or is it something else?
Classic (which should run on all OS X machines) is OS 9.1 or 9.2 (both versions are supported) which run as background processes once invoked. Then programs that run only in OS 9 run properly (for the most part) as though they're running in on OS 9 system.
