Well, Ive used a VGA monitor and a TV using the S Video cable. When detecting displays, the 2nd monitor needs to be turned on. The options box should appear on the 2nd monitor for the 2nd monitor, not on your main monitor. Also, try turning mirroring on and off and see if that changes your results.
