No, you can't use the ZIF in an AGP G4.
When Apple started making an AGP using Mac, they starting using a
totally
different connector for the CPU card.
The 'PCI graphics' G4 (aka the Yikes) is a very slightly modified blue
an=
d
white motherboard, which is why both machines can use the same G4 ZIF.
This will not work two different ways in which the motherboard is set
up and if you went G4 you would not want to mess with G3 anyway just
make sure whatever mac you go to has ram I recommend 512 or larger for
Tiger.
Thanks!
The machine in question would be running with 768MB or so, as I'd be
taking my old RAM (and just about everything else) with me, was just
wondering about the processor. So basically, if I take it to trade it
in, the 900mhz ZIF goes with the machine, and hopefully they'll give me
more money for it?
Is there anything else I'd have added to my B&W that can't be used in
an AGP based G4? I have a PCI Radeon 9200, I know obviously the AGP
ones come with AGP video, but they still have PCI slots that'll take my
video card instead, even if they're not as efficient, right?
Hey, anyone in the Toronto area want to buy a 900mhz B&W G3 off me? ;-)
