Of all things I was trying to boost the sound level of a voice ring (my granddaughter at age 4) for my new Ericsson 710 phone. The voice was loud enough on the Nokia but somewhere the volume was lost.
I loaded the original file (amr) into QuickTime and using the lame encoder saved it as MP3. Audacity loaded the new file, boosted the level, and saved it. All is well now that my phone rings out my granddaughter's voice. It's the simple things that count.
