Please, what do you mean with "the lower Doc(k?)" ?? I assume there must be
"a higher Dock" also? And is there something like "a middle Dock"?
Sorry, but I never heard of this/these terms so my question is seriously
meant.

I'm guessing, since Cliff was fiddling with the Apple menu (which is still there, but isn't the same thing as in OS 9), he looked in the Dock item and found preferences, one of which is where you put the dock. That may mean he put it on the left side of the screen instead of the bottom, so as to be more like the old Apple menu. Therfore, there is a 'lower' part.

That's where my dock is, too, but because being on the bottom interferes with desktop items. Like all Mac OS' the DT fills up columns from right to left. That means there is always empty space on the left side of the screen, which is where the Apple menu dropped down from, and so it doesn't interfere with the DT.
