OK. What about opening up the address book and making a new
group, grab everyone you have and select the result, copy and
save in Simpletext or something. Use the text file, comma or tab
delimited and then import it into a freshly installed OE (just
keep the old OE in a folder somewhere).

I would be thinking of reinstalling but keeping backups of the
old identities folder. You can always reinstall the messages
easy by dragging the but copy to replace the new... And the
address thing may disappear. I don't know for sure but it is a
nice little problem...
