I have put the two 512Mb double-sided RAM chips into my Beige G3 with a 256Mb double-sided RAM chip, and (wonder-of-wonders) - it works, well, it only recognizes 768Mb RAM.

Appropriate, since the beige G3 only supports a max of 256 MB per DIMM slot and a max of 768 MB total.

Aside - You're talking about "sticks" of RAM -- DIMMs. The individual ICs (integrated circuits) *on* the sticks are "chips". And "Mb" stands for Megabit. Memory is measured in MB - Megabytes.

But hey, RAM over here in Australia, is fairly expensive. Each of the 512 sticks cost me $ 95.00, whereas to buy 256Mb double-sided RAM chips would end costing about $ 145.00 each.

Then use the upper left pop-up menu to select your Mac model.

Of course, there's always eBay. But I've discovered recently that the wackos are out -- over over overbidding DIMMs...

As for you "overseas" folx... If the company's overseas shipping is absurd, there's usually someone around willing to order for you then reship... Paypal is a wonderful money transfer service.
