< >I'd like to hear about this too. I like to leave mine on (sleeping) all the time because I understand it is less wear on the computer over time. But I wonder if there is a significant waste of electricity.

I turn my G3 off before I go to bed, and power it on when I get up. When I go away from the computer to do something else, I put it in sleep mode. Weirdly enough, though, I keep my Powerbook 5300c in sleep mode constantly (except, of course, while I'm using it). The only time I ever fully shut it down is when I'm taking it on a trip (a real trip, not a walk to the park to go write outdoors on a nice day). So when I'm taking it on a driving trip, it's off from the time I put it in its carrybag to the time I arrive at my destination and need to use it. ~Yersinia. ________ "My answer to the covers-every-occasion statement about men's mistakes that 'it's in their genes' is that if they didn't have in their jeans what they've got in their jeans, we'd leave them cold, hungry and naked." -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
