WOW I really never through a simple comment would have generated so much feed back - well that the net for you!
I can only add the following - I too am a long time user of Apples & MacÕs. My first Apple was a IIc, I got during a xmas thing and of which I used for way to many years (maybe 10 or so) - over time I simply maxÕed it out and currently itÕs lives in retirement safely and lovingly packed way - my next unit was a 630 - follower by a 6330 - whoÕs hard drive died one day and so it gave way to a g3 233 MHz beige mintower - over itÕs short stay with me I choose to upgrade it to include a motherboard replacement which expanded it soul from a 233 MHz to a 333 MHz - finally about 2 years ago while lurking on e-bay ( I was shopping for a G4 Sawtooth - faster buss speed) I came across a used G4 QuickSiver 733 MHz which was about to close for $495.00 - quick and panicky action on my part produced my current OS for only $595.00 including shipping from New york to Texas - the tag line on the offering simply read ÒMac g4 for SaleÓ and on closer examination i found that both the photo and the description was that of a OS - it seams that the seller was cashing in and returning to china - having finished collage in new york city. The poor thing got to me about a week later and was in need of a complete cleaning - I never through that a computer could get so dusty - I think I used two or three air cans just to get the dust out of it. Currently I thinking about a major upgrade to the processor chip other wise all is well. My QS has only been in the shop once - when it had a KP - the result of a hard drive dying while trying to download a OS upgrade. IÕm sure that there are many reasons for remaining with older OSÕs but the reasons for moving forward must be getting longer everyday - of course money being one of the reasons for not - which i do so understand because I myself choose to invest in a used mac because of tough times I truly understand the money question but then again devolved and active use of e-bay and the swap list from time to time can and does reap rewards OK I trust this will not product to many flaming replays - because at heat IÕm one of the good guys too thanks for the feed back rick ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > In a message Tom Baker <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> writes: > > << Well, a lot of us have to keep looking back, > because for us there is a lot > more back than there is fore.
