I'd go with either Kinsgton or Crucial, though I'm sure others can recommend additional venders for possibly less, Kingston and Crucial have lifetime warranties and have always been top-quality.
Yes, a 1GB module is the largest that the 12" can take, primarily because that is the largest available in the SoDimm format.
