And one more worse matter:

In 10.4.0 and above you simply cannot connect via AppleTalk to a Mac running 
less than OS 9 as a file server. Tiger does not fall back to AppleTalk over 
Ethernet the way 10.2.0 thru 10.3.9 do.

Yes there is IP software around for OS 7 and OS 8 but it typically costs more 
than the older machine is worth.
