Will work fine even for very different Macs in OSX. I installed Tiger to an external drive on my 12" PowerBook G4 (1.5GHz scrolling trackpad) and then installed that drive internally in an old Lombard G3 (not officially supported and will not permit installation of Tiger) and it just booted right up and worked like a champ.
