Though I almost never use IE5 on OS 9 any more, when I do fire
it up, i get all the old feelings: How nice it all works! Fires
up quicker than almost any other browser, this alone is
sometimes a good reason to use it for me. It looks good and if
Gates were passing my house, I would invite him in for a cuppa
and flatter him about it (remember, Sadat went over to the
Knesset once and was warmly greeted). The people who developed
IE5 for Mac were more competent than the ones that developed the
Windows version. But it is now something not to be used too
seriously any more. It is good for most sites because most are
still crappily coded. It has some serious failings now with well
coded css driven sites and the tipping point is well over. I
can't imagine I'd even try it on X.

I listen without comment to so much malignment of this great
workhorse and I will pop up every now and then to say something
contrary as my experiences with this browser have on the whole
been very good indeed.
