Toast is obviously the world class, but then you don't need Patchburn and it's
pricey. You can get it with an academic discount, and it's not too bad
though.
Another one you can try is called DragonBurn. It got good reviews, and is
competitively priced.

Figured I could try to remove the profile and reinstall it. But
PatchBurn is dead. It says it's expired - to get the latest from
the web site. Did that, but it's the exact same archive and app I
got the other day. It has epired.
Is there any alternative to PatchBurn?
Per VersionTracker, Patchburn 4.0a5 was released just today, and
expires 6-1-2006.

I'd say try the web site again...maybe clear your web cache (though
downloads shouldn't be cached)
heheheehhe. I was playin with this in the early afternoon. 4.0.0a5
was uploaded at 2:50pm, shortly after I gave up for the day. :\
Ok. Got 4.0.0a5. Unintalled the old profile. Installed the new.
Repaired permissions. Then tried burning a CD-R from the Finder -
dragged a handful of mp3 and pdf files to it (~90 MB) and hit Burn...
At least it no longer dies in the first 30 seconds. Now I hear the
burner speed up and it sits there thinking. Three hours later it
died with the same 0x80020020 error.
Maybe Apple's burning software just sucks, like so many of their
other 3rd party encroachments. Can you recommend some 3rd party app
that will do the burning? Something I can download to test? Did a
search on versiontracker, but my eyes glazed over from the confusing
choices. :\
Thx,
- Dan.
