Shouldn't be a problem if your using OS X, highlight the disk on the
desktop that you want to change the name, then do a "Get Info." When
the info panel appears, click on the Name & Extensions (triangle) and
change the name in the Drive Name Window.
If you can not still change the name then click on the Ownership &
Permissions (triangle,) if you don't have Read & Write privileges then
click on the Details (triangle) and if you are the "Owner" click on the
"Lock" next to the "Owner" drop-down and enter the needed password.
Next change the "Access" drop-down to your login name. Then back to the
Ownership & Permissions and change to "Read & Write."
You should now be able to make the "Disk" name change that you want.
Be sure to change things back to the way they were after making your
changes.
