DVD-Ram is a kind of old format. I'd go with a DVD-RW drive. I picked
up a off-brand DVD +/- R/RW Double Layer drive (8.5 GB) at my local
Mac dealer for $89USD. Bootable under 10.3.9 and seems fully
supported under Tiger. (Used it to install Tiger on my B&W)

I'm happily running Tiger on a B&W (G4-450 cpu)... I'd think a dual
G4-500 would be sweet.
Startup is a bit slower than with Panther, but once we're rolling,
everything seems fine.
Will the Zip drive work under Tiger?
Zip drive on the B&W works just fine under Tiger, but with CD burners
so readily available and the CD media so cheap, it doesn't get a lot
of use. Heck, I've burned a couple hundred =KB= to a CD-R just to
transfer some driver files to another computer. Tiger also recognizes
my USB floppy drive, should that format be needed.
