Hi all,
I just need some input from veteran G4 owners and users:
Suppose you have 2 G4s, both of the 1st/2nd generation vintage.
Both have the same configuration, being a single processor G4/400Mhz,
224 Mg
RAM, 10 Gig HD, Rev-2 style motherboard (supporting 2 HDs on mother IDE
bus), modem, additional SCSI card (Os X compatible), 16Mg Rage 128 Pro
video, stock FireWire, USB, audio, Zip 100, CD, etc. Both have cases
in very
good shape.
Now, imagine one of them being a Sawtooth, and the other being a Yikes.
What kind of price difference would you generally anticipate?
Thank you for the consideration.
Best regards,
Dana
It maybe helpful to think of the "Yikes" G4 as a B&W with a G4 in it.
This is really what it is , that and a different color of case.
Checking around shows the Sawtooth machines selling in the range of
$100 -!50. more then the B&W machines. I'd say just a bit more then the
B&W machines would be a good range. Not a lot of Yikes out there so
harder to find selling prices. The Sawtooth machines, have faster ATA
speeds(66 vers 33), AGP graphics (vers PCI ), faster bus speeds(133
vers 100) & Firewire booting . They also have CPU upgrades making them
nearly as fast new G4 machines. While the B&W /Yikes CPU's can be
upgraded, speeds are limited as it uses the older style ZIF upgrade.
The B&W / Yikes machines are very nice especially if the price is
right. I love mine. hope this helps Will S
