That is twice the RAM I have on my desktop G3 & it can only help.>

I just want to keep my Linux stuff well separated from my main HD, which
I don't want to have to rebuild (my research of today indicated that a HD
with YDL has to have three partitions on it, and my main HD is all one
partition, which is how I like it). So I figured I'd put the second HD in
my G3 and partition it specifically for the Linux, although if I do have
to use OS 9 in order to boot the Linux, I can install that on there also.
I actually saved instructions for it.

However, it's going to be awhile before I can do any of this, after all.
Google misled me to think that I could download YDL free -- from the link
ftp.yellowdoglinux.com -- and instead of an actual ISO for YDL 2.3, I got
something that said it was the ISO but turned out to be only 4K -- and I
can't find anything else. My boyfriend, who is really a Linux man (even
if he's my Mac computer surgeon), says that no way could that 4K thing
have been the actual ISO, and on top of that...being on a 56K dialup
connection, even if I did find it, it would take a week for me to
download it, and I'd be lucky if it didn't get corrupted along the way.
His advice: get one of our mutual friends (who has DSL) to download the
ISO for me and burn it to CD.

He also suggested I might like Ubuntu Linux -- I still need to Google
about that (even if I have to wait till my friend can download any ISOs
for me), but do you have any knowledge of/experience with Ubuntu as
compared to YDL?

Thanks again!
