Anybody see any problems with this ?

I'm running similar, with a mechanical monitor switch and a separate USB switch. It took me several tries to find a USB switch that would work properly (I settled on an IOGear 4 port), but I suspect that Dr. Bott has that all worked out for their KVMs.

Switching into my non-X machines requires a bit of patience - it doesn't take control immediately, and can be annoying (the IOGear switch has a beep that tells you when it's in transition, and I find that the audible cue reduces the annoyance factor). Switching into an X machine is almost immediate.

Is there a better configuration ?

Don't know of one for the price.

Both computers run ADB dongled software.
One problem I forsee is that I would basically need to keep the ADB keyboard connected so I could boot the beige.

Yep, or as someone else mentioned, use the power button.
