So, can anyone on this list recommend a good, free newsgroup server
and a newsgroup reader that is compatible with it? What are your
experiences?
I've been using Unison as a NG client and a combination of my free
(minimal) newsgroup access from Comcast and Panic Software's (the
maker of Unison, Audion, Transport) news servers for $12 a month
with 10gb of article downloads.
Whoa. $12/mo for only 10 GB? Seems awfully expensive.
Comcast usually has a 24 hour minimum retention while Panic has
1.5-2 months minimum depending on the size of the group.
Comcast doesn't have any news servers of their own anymore. It's
farmed out to Giganews, with a no-support contract.
