Anything with 64MB of RAM or more, except GForce 4 MX, a dud ...
If you watch DVDs, ATI cards are better and there are retail versions
unlike nVidia, however there are the GForce 3 and 4Ti that are good
cards.
Visit www.xlr8yourmacs.com and they have benchmarks on virtually every
card ever made.
I guess for a 2X AGP the Radeon 9800 might be an overkill and you need
to be careful to get the retail version as the OEM was only 8X.
My preference would be:
(There might have been a R9700 or 9600 at one stage but not sure).
Radeon 9800
Gforce 4 Ti
Radeon 8500
Radeon 9000
Gforce 3
Any of those will give you a noticeable improvement over the stock
video card.

I'd like to upgrade the video card in my g4 400 sawtooth. It's only a
2X AGP slot, so i'm wondering what my options are?
Anyone else on the list done this yet? Is the upgrade worth it? Will
I notice a difference?
I've maxxed out the ram at 2gb, added a few hard drives, and added a
superdrive.
Let me know!
