I applied the 10.4.4 update to a dual 1 gig Quicksilver last night
and when it rebooted I finally got a text screen asking for login and
said "oops". This is the first time I've done an upgrade and had
something like this happen. Any ideas what might be going on here?
I logged on with the Username and Password and was able to browse the
directory hierarchy but was never able to get to a GUI. So, my plan
is to put in a second hard drive and do a re-install and use the
Migration Assistant to import everything. Question: is this taking
the 'baseball bat approach' or is there something else I might try
instead. Oh, I did try running the disk repair utility off the
install DVD and it did report it had quite a few errors. I ran it
twice and after the second time it report it without errors. I am
open to buying a disk repair utility if needed....as I don't have one
(guess I should, right?). I'm open to suggestions. This is my
wife's computer and I'd like to get it back and running before she
wants to use it this weekend (so that she doesn't know that there was
a problem), if possible. Bruce? Tim?
