It's not Caps-Lock-Shift-Opt-4, it's Command-Shift-4, followed by pressing the Spacebar AFTER you get the 'bullseye'.
The cursor changes to a camera, that you move over the window you want to snapshot (even if it's partially hidden), then press the mouse button.
