.... up to this very moment, we are working using an (excuse us!) PC
drawn PS with several pinout changes, to test, since we don´t have
around (and certainly cannot afford) another QS PS unit.
In fact, the machine got to us just this noon, and we have been
tampering in groups of free minutes here at work. PS is probably the
best possibility, since (I assume) it would be easier to
try-fix-it-yourself than , for an instance, a fried MoBo (Which is the
other possible scenario.. in which I don´t want to think yet!)
Still working on it, keep tuned for the updates!

Thanks for the heads-up! The problems sound exactly the same. I
have just tried removing and reinstalling the PRAM battery (don't have
a spare on hand at the moment), reseating connectors, removing and
reinstalling DIMMs. My machine is minus a video card, but I was under
the impression that it should at least chime without one. I will try
installing a PCI card from my G3 to see if that makes a difference.
Since we both suspected the PS, and you are testing it, have you
removed it? I was curious how much has to be dismantled to actually
pull it out.

Subject: [G] Update: Quicksilver Problems - Now have machine
Dear Chris, Co-listers
That is exactly the failure I am reporting on the thread
"franken-mac", so it seems we are dealing with the same kind of
failure.
I am already testing the PS unit and stuff, so ... the first on having
any update or info, let the other know. ;)

Hi,
I recently posted about a Quicksilver that had problems, and I now
have the machine so I can do further testing to try and get it
running. When powering it up, even with nothing (no VC, RAM, HD) the
power light illuminates, the fan spins up, and almost immediately
shuts off, the light goes out and the fan spins down and stops. There
is no chime or breaking glass sound from the speaker. I suspect the
power supply, but I would be interested to do more testing if that
would help further. Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris
