Is there such a thing onlne? A site where one can find answers to
the 5 most common questions, learn where the extension file has
gone and so on.
Google "Mac OS X tutorial" or "Learning OS X"
OS X's Help has a section for people switching from older Mac OS'es;
also a section on switching from Windows.
Apple also has some stuff on their web site:

I can tell you, 'where have the extensions gone?' is not a question
an idiot would be likely to ask. The answer is: They're gone. OS X
doesn't use extensions, at least in the sense that OS 9 does. That
means no more extension conflicts, either.
This list has got a lot of folks with experience with OS X, and a lot
of folks who are in the process, may as well ask your questions here.
