First of all, goto: <http://www.math.louisville.edu/~lee/macwritings/LCN9910.shtml> My setup: PM 8500/120 upgr. to G3/300, OS 9.2.2, 512 MB RAM, used (ae) as a printserver. I have a PCI 10/100 ethernetcard to connect to my LAN. The builtin ethernet is connected to an ethernetswitch. To the switch are (ae) connected a CLW 12/660 PS and a Seiko ColorPoint 835PS. To the serialport is connected a LW IINTX, for which I use LocalTalk Bridge 2.1*) This let you use a LocalTalk serial PS printer while using AppleTalk for ethernet. So whatever I have to print in bulk or proofprint (DS or TW A3sw) from any PC (norm. 3 Mac's (or 2 + 1 pos.guest) + 1 M$) on my LAN, I send to the PM 8500/G3. As soon as I need anything printed or I think its time to print the collected bulk, I simply change the ethernetchannel in the AppleTalk cp. on the PM 8500/G3. Now I give the several printcommands and get time to refill my beer, wine, single malt or pipe. For "urgent" prints there's a Canon S820 directly connected to the LAN.
