Yes. That bus is bunk. I have one, and the only way it runs is with
a pci ATA card. Also, firewire will kill drives and enclousures with
a rev 1.
Specifically, the rev 1 IDE controller on the motherboard has a
problem with causing data corruptions if there is more than one drive
connected. And it has firewire problems - data corruption and early
port burn-out.
The workaround in each case is to install a 3rd party PCI card.
