Not true. Zip drives are 1" high, that much is true, but the mounting pattern and fastener size differs significantly from the 3-1/2" industry standard. Hence, different sleds are required. Beige G3 MTs accommodate the differences by providing mounting holes for 3-1/2" floppy and Zip drives, 3-1/2" hard drives, and 5-1/4" hard and optical drives, all on the single sled. Other models provide different sleds for the different drive types. Industry standard 3-1/2 drive: Depth: 5-3/4" (146.05mm) Offset from front to first set of screws: 2-3/8" (60.33mm) Offset from front to second set of screws: 4-1/8" (104.78mm) Distance between screws: 1-3/4" (44.45mm) Width of screws: 3-3/4" (95.25mm) Screw size: 6-32 UNC Units: Imperial Zip drive: Depth: 6-7/16" (163.51mm) Offset from front to first set of screws: 35mm (1.3780") Offset from front to second set of screws: 105mm (4.1339") Distance between screws: 70mm (2.76559") Width of screws: 3-11/16" (93.66mm) Screw size: M3-0.5 Units: mixed metric and Imperial And, if the above wasn't enough, Mac PCI card mounting is nonstandard. Standard PCI mounting: 6-32 UNC Mac PCI mounting: M3.5-0.6 The diameter of an M3.5 fastener is so similar to a #6 fastener that many are tempted to use a UNC screw in place of a metric screw.
