Thinking of the future here, I am wondering if I wouldn't be well 
served to buy a SATA PCI (not express) card for the FW800.

Then I can buy the newer drives which will still work in a G5 or Mac 
Pro when I finally do upgrade.

Certainly can't beat those prices!!!
