I tried Firefox 2 (version 3 needs OSX10.4 or better) and the 4 web
sites that I was having trouble with, now all display properly.
Thanks Paul.

In the meantime as other sites start to fail to render, I will
investigate installing 10.4 either with one of the DVDs that I already
have or maybe a 'new' retail version. A quick look on eBay
(Australia) showed 2 but they already had several bids and were not as
cheap as I would have expected.

Thanks All
