The number of DVD9s which I have burned has been small in comparison to the number of DVD5s, and the Pioneers were certainly up to the task, be that task DVD5s or DVD9s. With my Intel Macs (which are really Hacks), I went with Lite-Ons, and I have not been disappointed. Burning with Pioneers is generally restricted to 8X on account of the drive, not the media. Burning with Lite-Ons is generally restricted to 16X on account of the media, not the drive. But, the Lite-Ons are SATA, whereas the Pioneers are PATA, although that shouldn't matter as all the G4s (and even Apple's G3s, too) have 80-wire/40-pin cables, which are mandatory for faster than 8X burning. If you can get one of those OWC drives which have no bezel and no tray front (and no LED indicators), then do so for a Quicksilver. The QS' media bays are quite different from earlier (and later) Apples. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed Low End Mac's G3-5 List, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
