I cleaned the contacts with a photography kit (basically an hand- 
bellows) and some old-fashioned full lungs breaths. It now works.

Many thanks for he advices. In the meanwhile I did study the 66 MHz  
slot thing. It accepts both 33 and 66 MHz cards. Some cards, such as  
the ATI Rage 128 and the 3dfx Voodoo 3 3000, are compatible with both  
slots.

PS. the movie was Cars and it was the 10,000 times we watch it,  
actually the videotheque of my 4 years old boy consist of: Toy story 1  
and 2, Cars, The Robinson's family, The incredibles. Wonder why?
