Apple really screwed up with this. And downgrading QuickTime is NOT
easy unless you've kept good backups.

MacFixIt has detailed instructions.

Jeff, I really and truly hope Dan's suggestion works for you, and OMG
offer my sympathies to your daughter on her Sims withdrawal, because
Aspyr sucks. Know this:

For the past couple of years, I've been a pretty active member of the
online Sims community and I've read numerous stories from other Simmers
in the Mac Sims areas of the forums, none of which were even remotely
encouraging. In addition, The Sims 3 is going to be officially out "any
minute" now. Therefore, do not count on Apple or especially Aspyr to do
anything meaningful to support The Sims 2 anymore, presuming their
support of it was acceptable in the past.

Aspyr TOTALLY STOPPED SUPPORTING The Sims 1 (MY game: I didn't like Sims
2) WAY BEFORE THEY STOPPED SELLING IT even, and Apple didn't give a
flying f*** in the past when its OS X Tiger update from 10.4.2 to 10.4.3
COMPLETELY FUBAR BROKE the Sims 1 create-a-sim, wardrobe and pet adoption
screens (an issue I'm stuck with on my G4 that has made me seriously
consider downgrading my Tiger on numerous occasions ever since my G4
started freezing when I booted in OS 9) -- and Aspyr didn't care either,
they said it was Apple's issue, according to a Mac Simmer at TSR who had
posted about the problem and her experience in contacting both Aspyr and
Apple at the time. I know another Mac Simmer who discovered that Aspyr's
Sims 1 Complete Collection did not make the objects from the Deluxe sets
usable on Mac (Complete Collection for PC had all the Deluxe stuff, and
PC Simmers could use it as-is immediately), and she had to hack them all
herself to be able to use them. She told me she's never going to buy
another Aspyr game again because she's disgusted with what she called
their "sloppy programming" and lack of support.

Good luck!!!!
